Becoming the boss will give you more money and power, but will you be happy at the end?

The C-suite may look like a dream from the outside. Coffee is served every morning, there are high-quality chairs and, if overwhelmed, just delegate tasks. It is tempting to quit your job and launch your start-up.
But if the money is a big motive, chances are you would be getting more money as a senior employee than as the CEO of a start-up. According to PayScale, CEOs of small or medium companies earn on average £37,000 per annum in the UK.
But, what about Mark Zuckerberg or Jeff Bezos? They all became billionaires with their start-ups! Well, in the UK there are only approximately 95 billionaires, and around 7.5% of the whole population is a millionaire.
Another reason why starting a company seems like a good idea is to attain more power over decisions. But, in reality, the important decisions in a successful company come down to lawyers, accountants and PRs.
This does not mean that starting a company is not a good idea. But it comes with effort and getting out of your comfort zone.
